2017 Holiday Train

December 10th Holiday Train

The train is stopping at the railway crossing at First Avenue and Second Street South on Sunday, Dec. 10. The train is scheduled to arrive at 2:45 p.m., and entertainment is set to begin at 3 p.m. Canadian artist Alan Doyle and The Beautiful Band will be the entertainment. “The event will help out a lot especially at this time of the year when we will be preparing Christmas hampers,” Theodore said. “The train comes every two years so we are very happy to have it come back again because we are definitely in need of food this year. We are low on donations, so this will help us out a lot.” Wendy Theodore said the food bank gives out an average of 80 food hampers at Christmas time. Not only does the Holiday Train visit provide a boost to the food bank, but it’s also a fun event, said Theodore and Thomson. “Usually we have hot dog sales, the elves, Santa Clause, popcorn and all that kind of stuff. We’re just working on getting all that planned,” Theodore said.” (from the Vulcan Advocate Nov. 14)
