SERMON: June 12th, 2016 Brett Annable Part 1 “Trust and Faith”
Today we were blessed to hear Brett Annable preach on trust and faith using the Scripture Jeremiah 2:1-2. We learn that the relationship that we have entered in with God is a covenant relationship (which we commit to every time we take communion). This covenant relationship is a relationship based on respect and dignity with the bond of love and trust, a pledge of faithfulness that what we cannot do alone. In Jeremiah 2:1-2, God is remembering Israel and the covenant relationship that He had made with them in the beginning. Our trust in God comes from the knowing of all that God has done. Faith comes from that trust. Our walk with God is illustrated as taking a walk on two legs. First step is trust followed by the other leg and second step of faith. We have to trust God first before we can have faith to step forward. Trust is what we know and what we have seen followed by faith which is the unseen and hope. God spoke to a multitude of people both in Deuteronomy 4:33-35 and Acts 2 at Pentecost. Both of these revelations of God were public and tangible. We are involved in a covenant relationship with the King of kings and the Lord of lords where we step out because we have trust in the knowlege of who God is and we can take another step forward in faith.
