SERMON: June 2nd, 2019 “I Am Who YOU Say I Am”
What defines you? “When you find your identity in the One Who created you – it will change your whole perspective” (Movie “Overcomer”). Daniel chapter one shows how the world try to form young people into its truth, but Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah chose not to defile themselves with the Babylonian culture instead choosing the One Who created them. We can either believe the world’s definition of who we are; or believe the God Who formed us.
I Am Who You Say I Am:
“Who am I that the Highest King, would welcome me?”
Who am I – is the very same question asked by Moses, David, Job, Gideon and others.
Revelation 19:11 “I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. 16 On His robe and on His thigh He has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS”
2 Peter 2:10 “Therefore, my brothers and sisters, make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble, 11 and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”
“I was lost but He brought me in – Oh His love for me”
Luke 19:10 “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world”
“Who the Son sets free, oh is free indeed”
John 8:36 “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed”.
“I’m a child of God, yes I am!
John 1:12 “Yet to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God – 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.”
“Free at lat, He has ransomed me, His grace runs deep”
1 Timothy 2:6 “who gave Himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time.”
Romans 6:15 “But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to many!”
“While I was a slave to sin, Jesus died for me”
Romans 5:6 ” You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. 8 But God demonstrated His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
“In my Father’s house, there’s a place for me”
John 14:1 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with Me that you also may be where I am.”
“I am chosen, not forsaken”
1 Peter 2:9 “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light.”
Hebrews 13:5 “Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
“You are for me, not against me”
Romans 8:30 “and those He predestined , He also called; those He called, He also justified; those He justified, He also glorified. 31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but gave Him up for us all – how will He not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things?”
“I am who You say I am”
Psalm 139:13 “For You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well. 16 “Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in Your book before one of them came to be.”
