SERMON: October 7th, 2018 “Thanksgiving – It’s A Choice; It’s An Attitude of Gratitude”
Thanksgiving is a choice – it is an attitude! Ephesians 5:19-20 “… speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” We are called to peace and thankfulness “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.” (Colossians 3:15).
In Luke 17:11-19 was the Samaritan healed because of his faith? No God healed him, but it was his faith that saved him. This is a lesson for us not to come to Jesus expecting healing or anything at all, but to come to Him with repentance, faith and come to Him for life, salvation, glory eternal. If it was faith that saved the Samaritan, what happened to the other nine lepers that were healed? They were healed and able to return to their lives before they were outcasts, but were they saved? That is the question. We need to remember that if we seek glory from the world than that is all the glory we will receive. Instead, we are to give all glory to the Lord and come to Him in thanksgiving “For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him…” 2 Chronicles 16:9.
