Ambrose University Day of Prayer

Please join us in prayer on, and prior to, this day as we ask for God’s providential care and blessing upon the life, mission, and student body of Ambrose.

Prayers “God, please bless the ministry of Ambrose University as it prepares men and women for wise, joyful, and redemptive engagement in our cities, in our country, and throughout the world. Pour out your Spirit on the students. Fill them with your empowering presence, so that they would come to know, love, and serve Jesus Christ. Bless the Ambrose faculty and staff. Strengthen and encourage them. Give to President Gordon Smith and the Board of Governors wisdom as they lead Ambrose University to become all that you want it to become. “Lord, we thank you today for the mission and vision of Ambrose University. Bless every student. Give them success in their studies; wisdom in their learning; courage to follow your call; and lead them into lives that reflect the light of Christ. Bless the faculty and staff as they teach, support, and guide this school that you have called out for your kingdom’s purpose.” “O Lord, bless all schools, colleges, and universities, and especially Ambrose University, the undergraduate students… the seminary students… the staff and faculty; grant that Ambrose may be a lively centre for sound learning, new discovery, and the pursuit of wisdom; and grant that those who teach and those who learn may find you to be the source of all truth; through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Specific Prayer Requests • That the Ambrose University community would experience a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit and, like the earliest model of the Christian “lecture hall” (Acts 19:1-12), its graduates would powerfully influence the spread of the gospel to every part of the world. • For the ministry program and the seminary as it nurtures and prepares ministers, church workers, and international workers to “go and make disciples of all nations.” • That new personnel in key leadership and teaching roles will succeed and thrive, especially Mark Bartel (Music); Jon Coutts (Theology); and Kathy Crawford (Education); Ric Strangway (Pastoral Theology & Field Education Coordinator). Please pray also for key searches for a VP Finance & Administration and in the biology and business programs. • Pray for Irene Tran, Program Chair for our Theological Studies in Chinese, who is currently in the midst of some serious health challenges. • For new and expanding initiatives in key research areas—like the Canadian Poverty Institute, the Flourishing Churches Institute, and the Jaffray Centre for Global Initiatives—that their contributions would be of increasing benefit to our cities and the mission of our churches. • That Ambrose would be able to attract exceptional faculty for new and expanding programs—persons who are passionate about their personal faith in Christ and distinguished in their academic achievement. • That God would provide for our institutional financial needs. Pray that the many steps that remain between now and a successful closing on the sale of our excess lands may be completed in a timely manner. • Pray for our Enrolment department as personnel work to recruit students for the new academic year. Pray also for our Hong Kong recruitment initiative. Johana Mak, Enrolment Ambassador, is currently in Hong Kong visiting schools and meeting with prospective students; our president, Dr. Gordon Smith, will travel there in mid-February, visiting and speaking at schools and churches as part of this initiative.
