SERMON: January 1st, 2017 “Are you really, really thirsty yet?”

Happy New Year, Pastor Dave spoke from Isaiah 55:1-3:

1“Come, everyone who thirsts,
come to the waters;
and he who has no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without price.
2Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread,
and your labor for that which does not satisfy?
Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good,
and delight yourselves in rich food.
3Incline your ear, and come to me;
hear, that your soul may live;
and I will make with you an everlasting covenant,
my steadfast, sure love for David

and from John 4:13-14:

13Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, 14but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again.b The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

Jesus just wants us to come to Him; He will fulfill our thirst and we can only be satisfied in the presence of Jesus.  Jesus will give us rest when we are tired and weary and God will make us fishers of men-a plan that is far better than we could ever have for ourselves.  This new year is a time to pledge to be more in the presence of Jesus and feast on the Living Water.
