SERMON: December 3rd, 2017 “A Time for Activation”
Today is the first Sunday in Advent and Pastor Dave preached that it was “Time for Activation” taken from Proverbs 16:1-6. Our perspective of Christmas is Jesus. He loved us so much that He needed to be with us, not to bring presents. Our focus of Christmas is Jesus in the manger, is Jesus on the cross, is Jesus coming back for us. We need to be thinking of eternity and bring the world the message of love, compassion, not Santa. We need to be concerned whether or not we looked after the one God has placed in our path and given them the message of eternity in Christ. Our point of activation this Christmas is to pray for the school Christmas concert and when they sing “Silent Night” the hearts and minds of those who hear who will never see the inside of a church be changed to Jesus. We are called to be active – in communion with God who gives us love and strength to go into this world and to reach out to show love. Some may plant, some may water, some may pull weeds, but all these actions lead to the moment of salvation of the Lord.
