SERMON: February 16th, 2020 “How Do We Make Our Faith Grow?”
We live in a world where there are millions of self-help books telling us what to do and how to do it. We tend to be a people who just want to be told what to do, but our relationship with God does not work like that. It is a relationship – an intimate one at that! Ethicist John Kavanaugh went to Calcutta, India to seek out Mother Teresa as a sincere search for personal direction for this life. When asked by Mother Teresa what she could do for him, Kavanaugh asked her to pray for clarity for him. Mother Teresa said, “No, I will not do that. Clarity is the last thing you are clinging to and must be let go of…I have never had clarity; what I have always had is trust. So, I will pray that you trust God.” We too must trust God and WAIT on the Lord (Psalm 27:14, Psalm 37:9, Psalm 37:34, Isaiah 8:17, Isaiah 30:18, Lamentations 3:26). We must humble ourselves, pray and seek His face and turn from our wicked ways, then He will hear us from heaven, forgive us, and heal this land. (2 Chronicles 7:14). Yes, the seven points that were covered: feed your faith through the Word, exercise your faith by your actions, speak your faith to make it grow, free your faith from negativity, believing the impossible as possible, share it with others and discuss your faith frequently with your Manufacturer, but it is when we wait on Him, He will strengthen, He will have mercy, we will find salvation, we will inherit the earth.
