SERMON: January 15th, 2017 “Disobedience & Defeat OR Obedience & Victory?”
Today Pastor Dave spoke on the book of Judges chapter 2 where the angel of the Lord spoke to the Israelites about their disobedience. After Joshua had died another generation was brought up that did not remember the mercies of the Lord and in their disobedience and therefore judgment of God, they cried out to the Lord wondering why He had forsaken them. We live in a time that is no different than this, where people wonder where God is in the midst of tragedy. But like the Israelites, we have become comfortable, we have caved on what we know are the Lord’s commands and try to fit into the world. But as a church, as the body of Christ, we are called to be the light, not to be the generation that has allowed God’s name to be forgotten. But like the Israelites, if we don’t humble ourselves and turn from our wicked ways, seek His face and pray, then how can God heal our land. If we don’t get back to the basics of loving the Lord with all our heart, soul and strength and our neighbor as ourselves, then who will be the ‘Midianites’ who take over our land?
