SERMON: July 14th, 2019 “Preaching to the Choir – Part 3 Evangelism “What’s the Cost?”

“Evangelism is the commitment to or act of publicly preaching of the Gospel with the intention of spreading the message and teachings of Jesus Christ.  Christians who specialize in evangelism are often know as evangelists.”  Evangelists can be anyone from Billy Graham or someone like Sanal Thomas whose ministry is at Walmart.  All evangelism is is a willing to love.  The question is then “are you willing?”  are you willing to just sit with someone and listen?  We do not have to worry about the cost of evangelism as it has already been paid on the cross.  What we do have to be concerned about is whether or not we are willing to love as Christ loves.  The next question is whether we have something in our lives that we are not willing to give up.  “Luke 14:28 “Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it? 29 For if you lay the foundation and are not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule you, 30 saying, ‘This person began to build and wasn’t able to finish.’ 31 “Or suppose a king is about to go to war against another king. Won’t he first sit down and consider whether he is able with ten thousand men to oppose the one coming against him with twenty thousand? 32 If he is not able, he will send a delegation while the other is still a long way off and will ask for terms of peace. 33 In the same way, those of you who do not give up everything you have cannot be my disciple.”

Church is the connecting point – it is not the destination!  Church is to equip and edify so we can go out; it is not where we finish.  Our destination can be anywhere from sitting at our neighbors just listening to going to another country to speak the Gospel.
