SERMON: March 18th, 2018 “I Will Not Fear”
Today Pastor Dave spoke from 1 Samuel 12:24 “Only fear the LORD and serve Him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things He has done for you” in light of this picture. Many of us have been on different roads, some of hardship and struggle, others of great joy and in either case we need to consider the great things He has done. As in Psalm 139:7-13 “Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence…” We have the assurance that the Lord is with us, however our fear comes when we feel that God is not with us. In today’s secular world, people have no faith in anything and we cannot find our answer in the world, likewise the church can often offer us nothing and the only place we can find all we need is in God. We have nothing to fear so long as we are in God – we can face tomorrow “Because He Lives”. In 2 Chronicles 16:9a “For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him…” Romans 14:12 “So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God.” We have nothing to fear when we are fully committed to God; God knows our heart. We know that “…that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” It is only ourselves that can choose to be separate from God, nothing and no one else can separate us from the love of God. So as we consider the great things that He has done for us, let us consider carefully our relationship with the Lord – how to be faithful and fully committed to Him.
