SERMON: September 16, 2018 “Preparing for the Storm”
No matter what our storms may be – physical, mental, spiritual we can rest in God’s Word and His promises that He has a plan for you. God has told us that “There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people. (2 Timothy 3:2-5). We are to go to the Lord, as Hannah did; not to be cowering in fear in the storm, but aligning ourselves to God. The world will not give us the peace or the answers we need, but the Lord will as your Father knows what you need before you ask Him. (Matthew 6:8). “The poor and needy search for water, but there is none; their tongues are parched with thirst. But I the LORD will answer them; I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them. 18 I will open rivers on the barren heights, and fountains in the middle of the valleys. I will turn the desert into a pool of water, and the dry land into flowing springs. 19 I will plant cedars in the desert, acacias, myrtles, and olive trees. I will set evergreens in the desert, elms and cypress trees together, 20 so that all may see and know, may consider and understand, that the hand of the LORD has done this, the Holy One of Israel has created it.” (Isaiah 41:17-19).
