SERMON: September 8th, 2019 “There is No Quick Fix”
A ‘quick fix’ is “an expedient usually temporary or inadequate solution to a problem”. ‘Religion’ is a quick fix for the relationship that God wants with us. God is not looking to be anything other than to be the center of our life. In our lives today, we can fill ourselves up with so many things that our important to us. Ranging from finances, to employment, to family, leisure time and church. These important things in our lives are often used to define us. We can be defined by what we “do”, what church we go to, or what we do in our leisure time. God is not looking to be part of the important things; He is looking to be THE IMPORTANT THING! He is tired of us playing “Christians” and taking on the position of religious people. “Religious people miss the gospel more than any other group because religion is the great substitute for our relationship with Jesus.” JD Greear We need a long term mindset for God. He wants us for the long haul. We need to have a long term relationship with God and to stop being the one who is defined by anything other than Him.
