SERMON: September 9th, 2018 “THE Hannah Moment”
“…You do not have because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.” James 4:2-3. “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,..” Ephesians 3:20. THE Hannah Moment was coming to the Lord with a committed heart and believing that He could do as He says. She prayed in “Thine will, not mine” and understood the potential of her submission prayer to the Lord. “In her deep anguish Hannah prayed to the Lord, weeping bitterly. And she made a vow, saying, “Lord Almighty, if you will only look on your servant’s misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son, then I will give him to the Lord for all the days of his life, and no razor will ever be used on his head.” 1 Samuel 1:10-11. Hannah prayed If/Then showing the difference from just praying for something and praying for something with the understanding that if you pray you must live it! And in living out her prayer, Samuel became the greatest High Priests of the Old Testament and the Lord blessed Hannah with her sacrifice with three sons and one daughter 1 Samuel 2:21.
Then Hannah prayed and said:
“My heart rejoices in the Lord;
in the Lord my horna is lifted high.
My mouth boasts over my enemies,
for I delight in your deliverance.
2“There is no one holy like the Lord;
there is no one besides you;
there is no Rock like our God.
3“Do not keep talking so proudly
or let your mouth speak such arrogance,
for the Lord is a God who knows,
and by him deeds are weighed….”
