Pastor Dave has been the pastor at the Vulcan Church of Christ for four and a half years where he leads God’s people by his example. He is committed not only to the church of God, but to the town of Vulcan and Vulcan County as well. He believes that first and foremost our relationship/fellowship/communion with our Lord is the starting point for all healthy and productive relationships with those around us.
Pastor Dave began his varied working career as an auctioneer out of Salmon Arm, British Columbia. He later moved on to sell keyboards and for four years he sold pianos and organs for Woodwards. For six years, after going to school, he cooked for logging, fishing camps, and resorts in Port Alberni, BC. Following his cooking career, he was a baker for three years in Irvine, Alberta.
The Lord later led Pastor Dave to the pastoral ministry at the Nazarene Church in Medicine Hat. There he served as Associate Pastor for 2 years, Senior Pastor for 1 year, later returning to Associate Pastor for another year. Following his time in Medicine Hat, Pastor Dave cooked at Eagles Nest Ranch in Cypress Hills for two years. From there Pastor Dave was called into volunteer missionary work, where he and Joan served in Tonga with the International Nazarene Church for two years. They later return to Canada and began a catering company “Country Catering” in Coronation, Alberta.
Pastor Dave has continued to serve the Lord and for seven months he was the cook at the Baptist Union Camp at Keat’s Island BC. For three years, Pastor Dave and Joan resided in Burnaby BC and from there the Lord led them to Vulcan, Alberta.
Armed with a picture from the Vulcan Advocate, Pastor Dave and Joan bought their heritage home on the internet. Pastor Dave was introduced to the people of this town by cooking at the Peter Dawson Lodge for one year. Joan and Pastor Dave attended the Vulcan Evangelical Missionary Church and later Pastor Dave became the pastor of the Vulcan Church of Christ, where the Lord has lead Joan and him to be His servants to lead His flock.
